Case study: GSF Car Parts.

GSF Car Parts is a leading motor factor business with 180 stores across the UK and Ireland. The motor parts supplier supports thousands of automotive trade and retail customers with original equipment quality parts.

The company was acquired by Parts Alliance Group in 2015, and the organisation's rebranding to GSF Car Parts in 2021 meant the vast majority of its image library needed to be updated.

The company required my commercial photography skills to build a brand-new image library, which showcased their colleagues and branches and could be used across a wide range of communications, marketing and engagement materials.

Over a period of months, I visited several sites across the UK to undertake photographic shoots to build the new image library. The sites were selected to allow me to capture the broadest range of business areas and people working there. From front-line customer-facing stores, delivery drivers, web-based teams and office support staff - the photography brief was to ensure all elements of the business were included across the images produced.

When undertaking a photoshoot with no immediate intended usage of the images, it is even more vital to make sure that there are a variety of shapes of images and options with and without tactical space left for future design elements to be added.

The work on building the new image library led to photographing colleagues from GSF Car Parts volunteering at a track day for their charity partner, Speed of Sight. In the pouring rain, a group of colleagues played a part in creating an unforgettable experience for 20 young people who are supported by the Manchester arm of the Whizz Kidz charity.

GSF Car Parts head of communications and engagement, Ben Hall, said:

Chris is a dream to work with. I have every confidence in throwing him into any situation, whether it’s capturing candid moments or nailing a specific brief. He swiftly puts people at ease and always works with a smile on his face, and that positive approach shines through in his work time and again.
